Hamper campaign to aid need in our community
Published on: December 3, 2019 – By: Kerry Sammon and Steve Serviss – Campaign Co-chairs
It’s been a busy few weeks for the organizers of the Jerome Taylor Memorial/Whig-Standard Christmas Hampers of Hope Fund. We’ve been reaching out to supporters, volunteers and co-ordinating with the good people who work behind the scenes at the Salvation Army to ensure the campaign is a success and we reach our goal of $155,000.
Through the good fortune of some of our partners, the campaign goal, which had been steadily increasing with food costs each year, was able to stay on par with last year. Another aspect of the campaign that has also remained the same is the need in our community. Reaching our goal enables us to provide more than 3,000 households in our community with a full Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. For some, it may seem like a small thing, but we can tell you from our experience that it makes a huge impact for thousands of families and individuals.
Thank you to all our donors for helping to get the campaign off to a great start.
