Robert (Bob) Davis, Hanshi-Ho, 7th Dan

Robert C. Davis (Born 1952) first started training in martial arts in 1975 and received Shodan in Goju Ryu in 1979.

2015 marks 40 years of training in the martial arts. To date Kyoshi Davis holds Nanadan Kyoshi in Iaijutsu, Godan in Goju-Ryu, Shodan in Jujutsu and Ikkyu in Kendo. He has also studied Matsubayashi Shorin Ryu extensively with Brock Burley Sensei.

As well he has also studied Aikido, Hapkido and Tai Chi.

At present Kyoshi Davis teaches Iaijutsu in Kingston regularly and has students in other locations in Ontario and Quebec. This was made possible due to Hanshi Tallack’s support in helping to promote traditional martial arts.

Kyoshi Davis first trained in Iaijutsu with his Sensei Ted Davis (no relation) who introduced him to the Yamauchi Ha Muso Jikiden Eishn Ryu.

Kyoshi Davis has made several trips to Japan to further train in Iaijutsu and for Shodan examinations.

In 2019, Kyoshi Davis was awarded the Iaido Builder Award for his contributions to the martial art over the years including his countless hours training and teaching the art.

Kyoshi Davis is a member of the Dai Nippon Butokukai and continues to promote Iaijutsu under their guidance and that of Hanshi Tallack.
