Our first full day in Kyoto started off with a beautiful and welcoming sunrise as we moved onto our group breakfast with all attending DNBK members staying at our hotel for the duration of the trip. We met some great new people and got a chance to see some old friends as we conversed throughout the early morning.
After breakfast was a great and very special opportunity as we attended the Seiryuden up in Kyoto’s southeastern mountain range. DNBK senior members performed before the board of masters including Prince Higashi Fushimi. Afterwards was a group picture of all attending international members, then a quick chance to look over the entire view of Kyoto city from the mountains above.
After a delicious lunch of Japanese Beef Curry at the hotel, we had a quick period of time to check out the Okazaki Shrine which is located right beside our hotel. After the quick tour, we prepared for another great sight.
We all went by bus to the Fushimi-Inari Shrine in the southern mountains of Kyoto, where we were able to walk some of the path leading up to the summit through 1,000 Torii Gates.
After a delicious dinner, we had some free time to explore the area near the hotel a little bit before a quick meeting with Hanshi Tallack to get us all set for tomorrow’s events.
More to come, we hope you enjoy the pictures:
