Monday Weekly Update

Hey everyone! we hope you had a good weekend, we’re back! and set for a very big and important week!! Not only is this week ‘Testing Week’, but it is also our 25th Anniversary Event Weekend!

Make sure you are in for your test between MONDAY and THURSDAY to complete your test this week. And don’t forget those Home Achievement Charts and/or Belt Testing Sheets! There will be NO GRADUATION CEREMONY THIS FRIDAY evening due to our event weekend. All students that pass their rank tests this week will receive their new rank in class next week.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE ALL CLASSES WILL BE POSTPONED ON FRIDAY, SATURDAY, AND MONDAY due to our event weekend and the Family Day Holiday.

ONLY 5 DAYS LEFT UNTIL OUR BIG EVENT!!

Join us this weekend as we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Winter Training Festival, held at the Holiday Inn Kingston-Waterfront. This weekend is in support of our fundraising efforts to the Kingston Partners in Mission Foodbank and our Kingston team travelling to Kyoto Japan for the 5th World Butoku Sai in April.

Friday evening starts with a quick volunteer meeting at the dojo from 5 to 6 pm, where we will fill out some needed helpful positions for the weekend. 6 to 7 pm will be packing up items at the dojo and getting them ready to be taken down to the hotel. Then 7 to 9 pm will be unloading and setting up the hotel for the weekend!

Saturday morning kicks off at 9 am for the Youth Winter Karate Games in support of the Kingston Foodbank. All Tallack’s Karate Kids Program Students and Tallack Dojo Students age 4 to 12 can participate. Admission is a $20 to the Kingston Foodbank, or FREE with 4 non-perishable food donations.

Saturday at 11 am will be the start of the wonderful martial arts seminars taught by over 30 instructors of multiple martial arts disciplines for all in attendance. Saturday afternoon will also fit in a quick meeting for all of our Japan Team travelers.

Saturday evening at 6 pm will start our delicious banquet dinner with awards ceremony, demonstrations, and dance. Sunday morning at 8:30 am will finish off the training seminars before a quick lunch break and our final event.

Sunday afternoon will be our annual DNBK Gasshuku where invited members will participate in demonstrations, and rank/title promotion considerations. One final Japan Team meeting will happen after this event, so don’t miss it!

Then finally the big clean up and bring things back to the dojo before a well deserved rest.

We can’t wait to see you all and have you join us for this great weekend full of martial arts training, friendship, and celebration of the 25th Anniversary of this event!
